Sarah Milgrims Paws for Healing

Honoring the pets we love. Bringing healing to others.

Sarah Milgrim believed in the power of compassion—not just as a feeling, but as something we put into action.

Today, we honor Sarah’s memory by creating a cycle of healing for both animals and people.

A heart that protected every living thing.

Sarah’s love for animals began in childhood and remained a defining part of her life. Whether caring for family pets, rescuing injured wildlife, helping lost dogs find their way home, or doting on her beloved Goldendoodle, Andy, Sarah never passed up an opportunity to protect a creature in need.

Today, we honor Sarah’s memory through Paws for Healing, a tribute that celebrates the special bond between people and animals while supporting the life-changing work of Matanya Farm, our rehabilitation farm in northern IsraelThere, rescued animals, therapeutic programs, and a nurturing environment come together to help soldiers, veterans, children, trauma survivors, people with disabilities and families heal.

Rooted in Sarah’s deep compassion and commitment to helping others, this project continues her legacy of bringing comfort, hope, and healing to both people and animals.

“Andy was Sarah’s first true love, but she had a deep love for all animals. From a young age, she dreamed of having a farm of her own. Caring for animals, helping people, growing food, and sharing it with others were all close to her heart. We truly believe she would have felt at home at Matanya Farm and would have wholeheartedly supported its mission.”

About Sarah Milgrim

Sarah lived a life rooted in compassion, service, and a deep commitment to helping others. Guided by her Jewish values of Tikkun Olam and a belief in the power of human connection, she dedicated herself to building bridges between people, fostering understanding, and creating a more hopeful and peaceful future.

Those who knew Sarah remember her for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering belief in the dignity of every person. She approached life with empathy, curiosity, and purpose, building bridges between people and leading with compassion in everything she did. Whether through her dedication to peacebuilding, her commitment to helping others, or the countless small acts of kindness that defined her daily life, Sarah made those around her feel seen, valued, and loved.

Sarah traveled to Israel many times and fell in love with the land and its people from her very first visit. Her support for Israel continued through her work with the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. Sarah planned to make aliyah and dreamed of marrying and raising a family there while continuing her peacebuilding and environmental work.

In May 2025, Sarah’s life was tragically cut short in an act of antisemitic violence outside a Jewish community event in Washington, D.C. Her loss was felt deeply by family, friends, colleagues, and communities around the world who were inspired by her spirit and the values she embodied.

While Sarah’s life was taken far too soon, her story does not end there. We carry her legacy forward by choosing compassion over hatred, connection over division, and hope over fear. In honoring Sarah, we recommit ourselves to the ideals she lived by—a belief that every life has value, every act of kindness matters, and every person has the power to help repair the world.

Through Paws for Healing, Sarah’s legacy lives on at Matanya Farm—a place that reflects so many of the passions that shaped her life: caring for animals, helping people heal, agriculture, and building community. Every rescued animal, every therapeutic connection, every harvest, and every life touched reflects the compassion, kindness, and hope that defined who Sarah was.

This memorial campaign was created in partnership with Sarah’s parents, Nancy and Robert Milgrim, and is shared with their knowledge, permission, and support. We are honored to help preserve Sarah’s legacy through a cause that reflects her lifelong love of animals and helping others.
